Sunset Downs’ owner Elizabeth is passionate about providing a safe and enriching environment for riders to learn the foundations of riding and horsemanship.

As a child and teenager with an intense passion for horses but not in a situation to own her own, Elizabeth spent many years learning with Marie Morgan at her riding school in Flat Bush, Auckland. She coveted her time with the horses and credits the riding school experience with providing her not only riding and horse handling skills, but also the resilience, empathy, leadership, problem-solving and resourcefulness that come with learning an outdoor skill involving large animals.

Elizabeth went on to teach for Marie in the school for many years and discovered her passion for sharing her knowledge and facilitating the progress of riders through the stages of learning.

Now on an equine property in Hunua, Elizabeth is incredibly grateful and excited to be in a situation where she can offer others the chance to experience and learn about horses and have some good old-fashioned outdoor fun!
